Regular Meeting Minutes

Animal Welfare Commission Members Present: Dr. Mariah Covey, Karen Haun, Rebecca Strand, Pam
Wesolwski, and Barb Leavell
Kylie Connell-Attorney for Animal Control Board
City Staff Present:Lindsay Cueller -SBARC Shelter Manager, Tom Panowicz-
Attorney for SBARC, and Ashley Snidecki
1.The meeting was called to order by Dr. Mariah Covey at 1801 hours.
2.Lindsay Cueller from SBARC discussed In Takes for the month of November 2021.
A.SBARC is full.
B.Checking Facebook for any volunteers, lost animals and foster animal parents.
C.Two officers have left or are leaving SBARC.
3.The new ordinance needs to get passed on to the City Council.
4.Update on cases.
A.Case on Williams Street the animals have been seized.
B.Columbus have heard nothing on.
C.C. Love still skirting issue and not in compliance.
D.Odom is in compliance.
5.There was not a decision regarding the last hearing so tonight those in attendance from the October 21,
2021 hearing will make their decision.
A.The dog will be considered potentiall dangerous.
B.The requirements were laid out and voted on at this time.
1.Make sure dog is contained.
2.There must be fencing put up to keep dog from escaping.
3.Dog must be up to date on all shots.
4.Dog must be spayed or neutered.
5.Dog when outside must be put into a five sided kennel.
6.If dog is walked or outside the fence must be on a leash and muzzle.
7.All of the children within the residence must be made to understand the reuirements.
C.Motion for dog to be deemed potentially dangerous voted 2 to 1. The owner now has seven days
to comply with the Commission’s decision.
