The May 10, 1999 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was
called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 4:20 p.m. in the
Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Kelly, Sniadecki, Varner,
Pfeifer,Coleman,Ujdak,and King; Citizen Member Khadijah Muhammand,Lew Powell,
Carl Littrell,Fred Voynovich,Terry. Bland and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Dr. Varner noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 28-99 which is an
ordinance requesting the vacation of a portion of an alley north of West Tasher Street.

Fred Voynovich,the Petitioner, made the presentation. He noted that the overall purpose
of the vacation would be to eliminate the business traffic from Main Street that uses the
residential alley in question. Mr. Voynovich provided a petition in favor of the proposed
vacation signed by four(4) adjoining property owners (copy attached).
Mr. Carl Littrell spoke in favor of the proposed vacation. No one spoke in against the
proposed vacation from the public.
Dr. Varner noted that the Board of Public Works sent the request to the Council with a
favorable recommendation(copy attached).
Council Member Sniadecki made a motion, seconded by Council Member Aranowski that
Bill No. 28-99 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
The Committee then received an update on the street repairs and improvement program
proposed for 1999 by Lew Powell and Carl Littrell. They reviewed the May 0, 1999
Memorandum addressing "1999 Street Improvement&Maintenance Program Details" and
the"1999 Summer Street Construction&Maintenance Program" map (copies attached).
There being no further business to come before the Committee, Dr. Varner adjourned the
meeting at 4:45 p.m.
