RE: Local Limits Technical Evaluation
Dear Board Members:
The City of South Bend performed a quinquennial (every 5 years) Technical Evaluation of Local
Limitations, as required by the Environmental Protection Agency in conjunction with the
reissuance of our National Pollutions Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit. The new
Local Limits do not require for any Industrial Permit or the Sewer Use Ordinance to be changed.
The Local Limitations have been approved by EPA in conjunction with Indiana Department of
Environmental Management (IDEM).
With the approval of EPA and IDEM we are wanting to officially submit a record of the new
Local Limitations to the Board of Public Works. No further action is being requested. Local
Limitations or Maximum Available Industrial Loading for each Pollutant of Concern on a Daily
Maximum and Monthly Average basis is allocated to each Industry according to their needs.
