Health and Public Safety Committees

The October 25, 1999 meeting of the Health and Public Safety Committee was called to
order by its Chairperson, Council Member Andrew Ujdak at 4:08 p.m. in the Council
informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Varner, Ujdak, Kelly,
King, Coleman, Sniadecki, and Hosinski; Assistant Chief Richard R. Kilgore, Terry
Bland and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Ujdak noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No.85-99
which would establish three(3)police grant funds in the South Bend Police Department.
Services Division Chief Richard R. Kilgore made the presentation. He noted that the
ordinance is necessary in order to keep track of specific grant funds. He noted that federal
law prohibits the co-mingling of such funds with other grant monies.
Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council
Member Hosinski that Bill No. 85-99 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion
passed.
There being no further information to come before the Committee, Council Member Ujdak
adjourned the Committee meeting at 4:14 p.m.
