The March 8, 1999 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Committee was called to order by
its Chairperson, Council Member Charlotte Pfeifer at 4:30 p.m. in the Council informal
meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly, King,
Varner,Ujdak,Hosinski, Coleman, Sniadecki; John Gremlewitz and Kathleen Cekanski-
Farrand.
Council Member Pfeifer noted that the purpose of the meeting was to have discussion on a
national softball/golf tournament.
Mr. John Gremlewitz, Chairman of the Falcons National addressed the Committee. He
noted that on August 10 and 11, 2000, approximately 275 golfers will be coming to the
City. 200 of these golfers will be from out-of-state. They would like to use Elbel and
Blackthorn however affordability has become an issue. They have been quoted $ 30 per
golfer for Elbel and$60 per golfer for Blackthorn.
It was suggested that he contact the Park Board with regard to Elbel and the Blackthorn
management for their golf course. Dr. Varner also suggested they contact Mayor Luecke
and Park Superintendent Phil St. Clair.
Following further discussion,the meeting was adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
