REGIONAL STADIzJM rGR THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING A
TRIPLE-A FR.ANCHISE.TO THE... CITY. OF SOUTH BEND
WHEREAS,. an application has been: filed with.. the: Triple.-A Baseball.
Expans:ian Committee:-(Comm:i.tt?e} to awarda_Triple:-A Franc.h.se to the:.
City of South Bend.; and...
WHEREAS, the. City of South Bend. has.. been placed on a "must..
perform'' list.. to meet. the:. objective criteria..established by the.
Committ:e:e by March_31, 1991.;. and,.
WHEREAS., one (1} of the criteria established by the Committee. is.
to have. a stadium.wth....a seating capacity for ten. thousand (10,o0o}
fans. by tree 199.3. Baseball. Season; and.
WHEREAS, a Citiz.en's Aduisory Commi.tte.e Chaired by'Judge John
Montgomery has recommended to the Mayor that the expansion of Stanley
Coueleski Regional Stadium be ac.camplisherl_by adding seating: al.ang
each. foul. line.; and_
• WHEREAS,. the.. financing. of said Stadium. can be accomplished by a
Lease-Purchase Bond Issue Without. an additional .levy of. property
taxes. by prudent use of enhanced.. Triple:-A Caueleski reuenues; and.
WHEREAS,. it is the specific intent of the South Bend..:
Redeyelapment Authority, in conjunction_wi.th the Sauth_Bend, Indiana,.
Redeueloprnent Commission and the Common Councl_of the ..City of South.
Bend. to take the approprat.e action under Indiana State Law to
finance the..construct,ion of an expansion of Stanley Covel.eski
Regional Stadium to. a seating capacity for ten thousand (1Q,aa0)
fans...
NOW THEREFORE BE IT. RESOLVED.. BY THE CLTY OF SOUTH BEND.
REDEVELOPMENT'AUTHORLTY_,. AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. That it is in the beat interes of the City of Sauth_
Bend to obtain.a Triple-A_Franchise.
Section II. That.after the Triple-A Expansion Committee awards a.
Triple-A Franchise. to the City of South. Bend.., the. South Bend.:.
Redeuelopment Authority expresses its..spedfic .intent to take all.
such action under Indana_Law in conjunction with the South Bend.
Redevelopment Commission-and the Common Gounci.l of the City of South.
Bend to finance the expansion of Stanley Coveieski Regional Stadium
to a seating. capacity for. ten thousand (1.O,aaO} fans by the_1993
Baseball Season..
