Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly, Broden, Varner,Ujdak, Coleman, Sniadecki and Hosinski; Sue Hodgson, Mike Beitzinger, Terry Bland, Nancy Van Scoyk, Christian Davey, William Guin, Ron Nicodemus,James Elgin, Joseph Miller, William Forrest, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Kelly noted that the first Bill to be reviewed was Bill No. 98-77 which is a five (5) year residential real property tax abatement request for Beeler & Brown Properties, LLC and Davey,LLC for specified lots in the Harvest Pointe Subdivision. Mr. Michael Beitzinger, Economic Development Specialist, reviewed the April 15, 1998 report (copy attached) which noted that the developers propose to construct forty (41) new homes ranging in price from $ 135,000 to $ 165,000. The subdivision would be a Villa Style community with a total project cost of over six million dollars. Mr. Christian Davey noted that the villas would be between 1,800 to 2,000 square feet with three bedrooms, two full baths, a cathedral great room, full basement and utilities. Council Member Broden spoke in favor of the proposed development. Following discussion, Council Member Broden made a motion, seconded by Council Member Sniadecki that Bill No. 98-77 be recommended favorable to Council. The motion passed. Council Member Kelly noted that the next item on the agenda was Bill No. 98-78 which is a five (5) year personal property tax abatement request for O-T-D Corporation for the property located at 3722 Foundation Court. Mr. Michael Beitzinger, Economic Development Specialist, reviewed the April 7, 1998 report (copy attached) which noted that the petitioner is in the business of manufacturing, selling, leasing and servicing containers for use in the pharmaceuticals, agriculture, petrochemical, automotive,printing an d other related ed i bu snes ses. the new equipment is $200,000.00. In response to a question from Council Member Pfeifer, Mr. Guinn stated that he would provide exact numbers of minorities hired by the company. The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 98-80 which is a five(5)year personal property tax abatement request for Uniroyal Technology Corporation located at 2001 West Washington Street. Nancy Van Scoyk reviewed the April 14, 1998 Community & Economic Development report. The petitioner is a manufacturer of adhesives and sealants. The proposed project as po calls for the purchase and installation of new hasedl equipment within two 407 00o and period valuing over one million dollars. q Phase II equipment would cost$659,000. She stated that several residents have voiced concern over ground water contamination. Mr. Faust, an engineer with the company stated that a representative from the company would be willing to meet with the residents and address their concerns. He noted that the company is working closely with IDEM. Council Member Pfeifer also requested a specific breakdown of minority workers. The company representatives noted that approximately 40 % of the workforce were women. Council President Coleman spoke in favor of the proposed abatement. Council Member Broden spoke in favor of the project and then made a motion, seconded by Council Member Sniadecki that Bill No. 98-80 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. Under miscellaneous business, Council Member Kelly noted that appointments to the Urban Enterprise Association will be made. Such appointments would include Karen Copley and Conrad Damein. A representative from the district is necessary.
