Public Works and Property Vacation Committee

The January 26, 1998 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was
called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 3:30 p.m. in the
Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Aranowski, Kelly, Ujdak, Varner,
Coleman, Pfeifer, Sniadecki, Broden and Hosinski; Micheal Danch, Robert Henry, Jon
Hunt, Cleo Hickey, Terry Bland, Phil Kalamaros, Carl Littrell, Anne Bruneel, James
Cierzniak and Kathy Cekanski-Farrand.
The first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 6-98 which is a request to vacate an
alley in Beck's 1st edition.
• Mr. Micheal Danch of Peirce and Associates made the presentation. He noted that this
vacation is on behalf of the Robert Henry Corporation and the Henry-Williams Inc.
Corporation. The vacation would allow a more efficient use of the property located on
either side of the vacated right-a-way.
Council Member Aranowski noted that the Board of Public Works sent the proposed
vacation to the Common Council with a favorable recommendation (report attached).
Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski, made a motion seconded by Council
Member Ujdak that Bill No. 6-98 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion
passed.
The Committee then reviewed Bill No.7-98 which is a request to vacate Megan Beeler Dr.
North. Mr.Micheal Danch of Pierce and Associates Inc. made the presentation on behalf
of the petitioners.
Mr. Danch noted that the purpose of the vacation is to provide a more efficient use of the
property on each side of the vacated right-of-way.
Mr. Hunt spoke in favor of the proposed vacation. Council President Coleman noted that
there had been ongoing discussions for the use of this property and proposed
developments.
Following discussion, Council Member Aranowski, made a motion, seconded by Council
Member Ujdak, that Bill No. 7-98 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion
passed. Council Member Aranowski also noted that the Board of Public Works sent the
bill to the Common Council with a favorable recommendation (report attached).
The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 11-98 (substitute version) which is a vacation
request involving the Moms Civic Auditorium.

Cleo Hickey made the presentation. It was noted that the Board of Public Works sent the
proposed vacation to the Common Council with a favorable recommendation but limited the
vacation to the building line of the LaSalle Grill. It was noted that the Substitute Bill
conforms to the request made by the Board of Public Works thereby reducing the distance
from 198 feet to 132 feet.
Mr.Kalamaros spoke in favor of the Substitute Bill.
Following further discussion, Council Member Ujdak made a motion seconded by Council
Member Varner,that Substitute Bill No. 11-98 be recommended favorably to Council. The
motion passed.
Council Member Varner then noted that he had been in contact with Mr. Tim Banta, of
American Electric Company, with regard to his letter on street ono es and street lights.
Council President Coleman suggested that Mr. Banta be invited to the next meeting of the
Public Works and Property Vacation Committee to discuss this matter in greater detail.
There being no further business to come before the Committee,the meeting was adjourned
at 3:50 p.m.
