Community and Economic Development Committee

The September 8, 1997 meeting of the Community and Economic Development Committee
was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member John Broden at 5:05 p.m. in the
Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Pfeifer,Kelly,Broden,Varner,Ujdak,
Coleman, Hosinski, Sniadecki; citizen member Sue Hodgson, Mike Beitzinger, Robert
Kastens, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Broden noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 97-
77 which is a five year personal property residential tax abatement request for Capital
Technologies,Inc. for the property located at 3615 West Voorde Drive.
Mr. Mike Beitzinger, Economic Development Specialist, reviewed the August 28, 1997
Community and Economic Development report(Copy Attached). The report noted that the

Mr. Robert J. Kastens, Treasurer then made a further presentation. He noted that t he tax

utilizes students fro m GMI.
In response to a question raised by Council Member Pfeifer,it was noted that there are 11
women in the 180 workforce. One woman is in design, one is an electrician and the rest
are clerical.
Following favorable comments, Council Member Coleman made a motion seconded by
Council Member Sniadecki that Bill No. 97-77 be recommended favorably to Council. The
motion passed.
Following further discussion,the meeting was adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
