HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-12-97 Community & Economic Development Community and Economic Development Committee t/i.& ze ?sus The May 12, 1997 meeting of the Community and Economic Development Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Councilmember John Broden at 5:00 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Council Members: Kelly, Aranowski, Pfeifer, Broden, Varner, Udjak, Coleman, Hosinski, Sniadecki; Sue Hodgson, Ricardo Milton, Charles Leone,Terry Bland,Don Inks,and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Councilmember Broden noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 97- 26 which is a tax abatement request for the property located at 315 East Broadway. Mr. Don Inks then reviewed the May 1, 1997 report from the Community and Economic Development Committee which concluded that the petition for American Home Dreams, for a five(5)year real property residential tax abatement (copy h requirements O y P Inc. meets the eq attached). Following discussion, Sue Hodgson made a motion seconded by Councilmember Coleman that Bill The motion assed.No.97-26 be recommended favorably to Council. p The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 97-27 which is a request for tax abatement for the property located at 1525 West Western. Mr. Don Inks reviewed the report dated May 6, 1997,which concluded that the petition for Community Wide Federal Credit Union meets the criteria for a three (3) year real property tax abatement (copy attached). Mr. Charles Leone,the Attorney for the petitioner,then made a further presentation. Councilmember Pfeifer, the District Council Person spoke in favor of the proposed petition as did Councilmember Aranowski. Following further discussion, Councilmember Sniadecki made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Pfeifer that Bill No. 97-27 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
