Public Works and Property Vacation Committee

The May 12, 1997 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was
called to order by its Chairperson, Councilmember David Varner, at 4:00 p.m. in the
Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Councilmembers Kelly, Aranowski, Pfeifer, Broden,
Varner,Ujdak, and Coleman • Attorney Ken Fedder, John Byorni,Ron Skwarcan, Terry
Bland and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Councilmember Varner noted that the only item on the agenda was Bill No. 36-97 which is
a petition to vacate certain property.
Mr. Kenneth Fedder made the presentation on the behalf of the petitioner, Mr. Ron
Skwarcan. Mr.Fedder noted that the purpose of the vacation is to protect the children for
public health and safety reasons and to hopefully decrease burglaries in the area.
Dr.Varner noted that the request received a favorable recommendation from the Board of
Public Works. The letter also indicated that if either owner plans to utilize the vacated alley
a recorded easement would be required (copy attached). Discussion then took place with
regard to the recorded easement and it was decided that it would not be necessary.
Following further discussion, Councilmember Aranowsld made a motion seconded by
Councilmember Broden that Bill No. 36-97 be recommended favorably to Council. The
motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee,the meeting was adjourned
at 4:10 p.m.
