Lafayette Blvd, South Bend, IN 46601 Members present: Brad Rohrscheib, Toy Villa, Jonathan Jones, Coby Deal, Suzie Krill 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 10:12 AM by Rohrscheib. 2. Approval of minutes Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Villa, the minutes from the previous meeting held on October 4th 2022, were approved unanimously. 3. Approval of Special Event Permits a. DTSB Tree Lighting Ceremony-December 2 2022 Kylie Carter joined the meeting to discuss the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony 2022 and to answer any questions from the Special Events Committee. This years ceremony will be held December 2nd along with First Fridays on the Gridiron. The ceremony will include a procession of Santa in a horse drawn sleigh, along with a firetruck and police escort from the Century Center circle drive along Washington Street to the Gridiron. DTSB ambassadors will be on hand to help with crowd control during the event and removal of cones and signage at the conclusion of the event. The festivities will conclude with a fireworks display. This event typically has an expected attendance of 2000. As this is the 6th year for this event, the committee is familiar with the route and setup and had no further concerns. Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Villa the permit was approved unanimously. b. DTSB Holiday Light Parade-December 9 2022 Page | 2 Kylie Carter remained at the meeting to discuss the 5th Annual Holiday Light Parade. This year’s event will use a similar route to the St Patrick’s Parade which travels along Jefferson Blvd. Staging will be held at Washington and Notre Dame Ave. The Jefferson Bridge will be closed during the parade for safety. Mr Villa requested that the County be notified of the closure as a courtesy. Ms Carter commented that the last Holiday Light Parade went extremely smoothly and was well represented by police and fire. She thanked the committee members for making last year’s event one of the safest in memory. Ms Carter discussed closures along the parade route with Mr Deal and mentioned that (2) DTSB trucks will be available to aid in temporary closures as needed. Mr Deal confirmed with Ms Carter the temporary closure of the staging area. The parade generally last for 45 minutes. The rain date for this event will be Friday, December 16 2022. The committee had no further questions or concerns. Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Villa the permit was approved unanimously. 4. Other Business None 5. Privilege of the Floor 6. Adjournment With no additional business, Rohrscheib motioned for adjournment and Villa seconded. The meeting ended at 10:32 AM.
