HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-24-96 Pubic Works & Property Vacation (ommitttt Zsport: Public Works and Property Vacation Committee to the Common aCountfl of the tit of i$outb to : The June 24, 1996 meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member David Varner at 4:00 P.M. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Council Members: Varner,Zakrzewski, Coleman, Kelly, and Pfeifer, Tony Zappia, Joseph A. Catanzarite, Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski- Farrand. Council Member Varner noted that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss Bill No 31-96 which is a request to vacate certain property commonly known as Ivy Road. Council Member Varner noted that this was continued from the last Council meeting to allow Mr. Zappia to meet with officials from the University of Notre Dame and the City Engineer with regard to various traffic control concerns. Mr. Zappia then updated the Committee. He noted that the meeting took place last Friday and went very well with the City Attorney and officials from the University of Notre Dame. He noted that the area in question has had a history of accidents and that all parties were satisfied with the proposal. Council Member Coleman thanked Mr.Zappia for meeting with the officials and noted that his concerns have been satisfied. Council Member Varner noted that the Board of Public Works had originally sent this favorable mm on H also noted that in support of a local vacation request with a reco endati He e resident wa also sent to the Committee. pp Following discussion, Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion seconded by Council Member Pfeifer, that Bill No. 31-96 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. The next item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 31-96 which is a petition to vacate Ivy Road between South Bend Avenue and Edison Road.
