The January 22, 1996, Parks and Recreation Committee was called to order by its
Chairperson, Council Member, Council Member John Broden at 5:11 P.M. in the Council
informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Luecke, Kelly, Varner, Zakrzewski,
Coleman, Broden, Washington, and Heifer; Betsy Harriman, Don Porter, and Kathleen
Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Broden noted that the first item on the agenda was to review Bill No. 1-96
which would appropriate$150,000.00 from the Coveleski Improvement Fund.
Betsy Harriman made the presentation. She noted that the Coveleski Improvement Fund
was established for the purpose of funding capital improvements for the "Cove". The
proposed appropriation would cover the cost of improving various items at the stadium
including the purchase of a Reel mower, upgrading the air-conditioning/heating units;
purchasing a new electronic sign; installing cup holders;replacing trash receptacles; doing
various interior and exterior painting; and replacing various suite seats.
She noted that there is currently a balance in the Coveleski Improvement Fund of
$545,000.00. She also noted that the opening day game will be April 5, 1996 at 6:30 P.M.
Following discussion, Council Member Luecke made a motion, seconded by Council
Member Coleman, that Bill No. 1-96 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion
passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was adjourned
at 5:18 P.M.
