JONES CITY CLERK , SOU TH BEND, IN Re: A SPECIAL RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA HONORING JACKIE BATTEAST FOR HER CONTRIBUTIONS TO SOUTH BEND'S LEGACY OF PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL PLAYERS BY BEING THE FIRST CITY NATIVE DRAFTED BY THE WNBA Dear Council Members: I have submitted special resolutions congratulating two young men from South Bend who were chosen in the first round of the NBA draft. In doing so, I realized that I was remiss in not similarly recognizing the first two women from South Bend chosen in the WNBA draft, Jackie Batteast and Skylar Diggins-Smith. I am submitting two special resolutions to remedy this oversight. Please file this special resolution and include it on the agenda for the Council meeting on October 24, 2022, under "Special Business". Thank you for your consideration.
