The Northeast Neighborhood is in the northeast quadrant of South Bend and is roughly bounced by Angela Boulevard on the north,Twyckenham Drive on the east, LaSalle Avenue on the south,and Niles Avenue and Michigan Street on the west.The City of South Bend developed this plan through a process that engaged residents, businesses, institutions,government agencies, and other neighborhood stakeholders. The Northeast Plan was approved and adopted by the South Bend Plan Commission on September 19, 2022. A representative from the Department of Community Investment will present at the Committee and full Council meetings. Thanks for your consideration of this bill. We appreciate all of the virtual and in-person opportunities everyone has enjoyed to offer their input and feedback related to the plan. We're especially thankful for your direct engagement with the NNRO board of directors at numerous meetings. We believe all of the information you've gathered from neighbors, businesses and other stakeholders has resulted in a terrific neighborhood plan. On August 10th 2022,the NNRO board of directors unanimously approved endorsing the adoption of the Northeast Neighborhood Plan as presented. We look forward to formal adoption by the City Council and Redevelopment Commission soon. We are eager to begin implementing the plan in partnership with the City as we strive to realize all of the goals and objectives contained in the NNRO 2.0 Engaging Community Strategic Plan.
