I.SPECIAL MEETING
The Board of Public Safety met in a Special Meeting at 9:18 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022, with Board President Daniel Jones, and Board Members Darryl Heller (absent), Lee Ross, and Al Kirsits (virtual) present. Also present were Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski, Fire Assistant Chief Brandon Roark, and Attorneys Danielle Weiss (virtual), and Christina Shakour (virtual). Board Clerk Theresa Heffner was also present. The meeting was held at the Auditorium, South Bend Police
Department, 701 West Sample Street, South Bend Indiana AND virtually Microsoft Team at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/BPS08252022
Board President Daniel Jones welcomed the public, called roll, and confirmed the presence of Board Members.

1.APPROVE HIRING OF PROBATIONARY FIREFIGHTERSAssistant Chief Brandon Roark requested the Board to approve the hiring of the above
Firefighters on a probationary basis effective August 25, 2022. Chief Roark stated theseindividuals have completed over 860 hours of training over the past 21 weeks and have alsocompleted the state required education. He also noted there will be a combined graduationceremony with the lateral firefighters on Friday, September 2, 2022, at the Century Center inthe Bendix Theater at 5pm. Chief Roark provided brief biographies of the firefighters.
Therefore, upon a motion by Lee Ross, seconded by Al Kirsits and carried by a roll call, theBoard of Public Safety approved the hiring of the above listed probationary officers.

2.APPROVE HIRING OF PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICERSPolice Chief Scott Ruszkowski requested the Board to approve the hiring of the above Police Officers on a probationary basis effective August 25, 2022. Captain Kathy Fulnecky andOfficer Chris Brady provided biographies of the officers highlighting their talents,
achievements, education, and interests.
Therefore, upon a motion by Lee Ross, seconded by Al Kirsits and carried by a roll call, theBoard of Public Safety approved the hiring of the above listed probationary officers.
3.SWEARING IN OF PROBATIONARY OFFICERSCity Clerk Dawn Jones administered the oath, and Chief Ruszkowski followed with thebadge pinning. President Jones thanked and congratulated the officers on behalf of theBoard.
B. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a motion by Al Kirsits
seconded by Lee Ross and carried by roll call, the meeting was adjourned at 9:44 p.m.
