Community and Economic Development Committee

The October 24, 1994 meeting of the Community and Economic Development
Committee was called to order at 4:30 P.M. in the Council informal meeting room by its
Chairperson, Council Member Roland Kelly.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Slavinskas, Luecke,
Washington, Kelly, Puzzello, Zakrzewski, Coleman, Duda, and Ladewski; Chief Ron
Marciniak,Don Inks,Frank Perri,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Kelly noted that the item before the Committee for discussion was
Resolution No. 940101 which is a ten year Real Property Tax Abatement Request for
Tollroad Industrial Partners, II, L.P.
Mr. Don Inks reviewed the favorable report dated October 4, 1994 from the
Department of Community Development. He noted that the building is estimated to cost
Three Million dollars and that the project would create between 40 and 50 permanent new
jobs.
Mr.Frank A.Perri then made a further presentation.
Council Member Luecke stated that this a terrific project and shows the great
success of the Tax Abatement process in the City.
Council Member Washington noted that the attachments to the petition whit regard
to question 10 identifying commitments made for the past five years on minority
employment was missing from his packet of information. The other Council Members
noted that they did not have this information. Mr. Perri noted that he did not have it and
Mr. Inks stated that he would make information available to the Committee. Council
Member Washington stated that he has a growing concern about the blanket statement
regarding this area.He stated that he would like to know more information and have it prior
to the Committee meetings. Council President Puzzello agreed with this request. Council
Member Washington requested the Council Attorney on behalf of the Committee to request
this information specifically from the Community and Economic Development Committee.
Following further discussion, Council Member Slavinskas made a motion,
seconded by Council Member Ladewski that Resolution No. 94-101 be recommended
favorably to Council.The motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was
adjourned at 4:43 P.M.
