Community and Economic Development

The September 21, 1994 meeting of the Community and Economic Development
was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Roland Kelly, at 4:00 P.M. in the
Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Slavinskas, Kelly,
Duda, Ladewski, and Puzzello; Jon Hunt, Beth Leonard, Kate Schrum, and Kathleen
Cekanski-Farrand.
Council Member Kelly, noted that the purpose of the meeting was to review the
proposals on the 1995 CDBG, HOME, and ESG proposal summary and the suggested
funding levels for each.
Mr. Jon Hunt and Beth Leonard then reviewed in detail the four page handout
(copy attached).
It was noted that this year the proposal will not be publicized or advertised in the
newspapers because such cost is becoming cost prohibitive.Instead copies will be available
in each of the Public Libraries,the Common Council office,the Community and Economic
Development office, and offices throughout the City of South Bend, Mishawaka and St.

comment will take place on October 3, 1994 and will continue for a

30 day period. The final plan deadline is November 14, 1994 with a Resolution of the
Common Council being needed by that time.
Council Member Luecke requested a report on the Neighborhood Action Patrols
and Council President suggested that notices be given to school children on buses about the
Neighborhood Centers.
Considerable discussion took place.
There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was
adjourned at 5:10 P.M.
