Council Member Slavinskas noted that Bill No. 90-94 which would designate a lamp post located at the Northeast corner of Niles Ave. and Leeper Ave. as being historical was the primary topic for discussion. John Oxian, the President of the Historic Preservation Commission made the presentation. He noted that the lamp post is made of cast iron and was manufactured in 1917. Its approximate value today is $1,600.00. He believes it is historically significant and is much more rare than the concrete poles. In response to a question raised by Council Member Duda, it was noted that I&M maintains the poles however Mr. Oxian does propose to talk with the City Engineer about taking over this as a local responsibility of the City. Following discussion, Council Member made a motion, seconded by Council Member Washington that Bill No. 90-94 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was adjourned at 4:25 P.M. Respectfully submitted, Council Member Lee Slavinskas, Chairperson Zoning and Annexation Committee Attachments •
