SUBJECT: COUNCILMEMBER DAVIS JR.,STATEMENT DATE: MONDAY, JANUARY 3, 2022 CONTACT: COUNCILMEMBER HENRY DAVIS, JR., HDAVIS@SOUTHBENDIN.GOV, 574-300-5241 _____________________________________________________________________________________ Statement from Councilmember Henry Davis, Jr. “It’s very misleading to say the Council (only), needs to weigh on the discussion of violence within our City. Yes, the Council should comment and make their appeal for a safer City however the Mayor is in direct control of the police department and all other departments. It is the Mayor’s job to make sure we have a safe/safer City. The Council passed a budget this past fall to equip the police department with the tools they need so now is time for the Mayor to perform.” Councilman, Henry Davis Jr. 2nd District, City of South Bend, Indiana ###
