Statement from Councilmember Henry Davis, Jr.
RESPONSE TO CITY BUYING SBCSC BUILDING:
If the South Bend Community Schools Corporation headquarters sale to the City of South Bend
proceeds, taxpayers will be on the hook, again, for the same building for the third time. Further,
this proposed move of administrative functions from the current County-City Building to the South
Bend Community Schools Corporation building requires a complete feasibility study—an
accurate assessment of the practicality and cost of this proposed plan. It is my hope that our city
government commits to prioritizing convenience for our residents who need to access our city and
county services.
I look forward to participating in a thorough and transparent process with my colleagues that
prioritizes the needs of our residents and their pocketbooks.
