PURPOSE OF REQUEST: South Main Street Parking Lane Improvements
This budget request will support the construction of parking improvements along South Main Street
from Dean Street to Sherwood Street. In the past five (5) years, there were 12 total crashes with seven
(7) involving parked cars belonging to residents. Due to numerous crashes along this segment of South
Main, Engineering recommends the creation of a concrete bump-out to provide protection for the
existing on-street parking. The work would entail the removal and replacement of the current concrete
curb, full depth asphalt removal and replacement, and drainage improvements.
