PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE

The May 11, 1992 meeting of the Public Safety Committee was called to order by its
chairperson Council Member Gene Ladewski at 4:30 p.m.in the Council informal meeting
room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Coleman, Puzzello,
Washington, Kelly, Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Duda, Ladewski; Assistant Chief Rick
Switalski,Assistant Chief Bernie Dobski,Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 27-92 which would appropriate $25,000.00 from
the EMS fund for the purchase of equipment. The fire equipment included one life pack,
10 defibrillator for $9,800.00, 3 Pulse oximeters at $1,000.00 each, 20 portable suction
units at$75.00 each, 50 replacement cartridges at$10.00 each ropes and various hardware
equipment for $3,000.00, 25 box springs and mattresses for a total of$5,000.00, and 2
portable radios for a total of$2,200.00.
Bill No. 28-92 which would appropriate Haz-mat fund for the purchase of equipment was
also reviewed. This appropriation would pay for emergency lights, kiddie pools, nomex
suits,portable radios,an intercom system and books.
Upon the request of Council Member Roland Kelly, the pulse oximeter was demonstrated
by Assistant Chief Switalski.
Following favorable discussion,-Roland Kelly made a motion seconded by Loretta Duda
that Bill Numbers 27-92 and 28-92 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion
passed.
There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was adjourned
at 4:45 p.m.
