The October 28, 1991 meeting of the Public Works Committee
was called to order by its chairperson, Councilmember Tom
Zakrzewski at 5: 10 p.m. in the Council informal meeting
room.
Persons in attendance included Councilmembers Donald
Niezgodski, Ann Puzzello, Loretta Duda, Stephen Luecke,
William Soderberg, Linas Slavinskas, Thomas Zakrzewski, Sean
Coleman, Eugene Ladewski, John Leszczynski, Jeff Rinard, Ann
Kolata, Jon Hunt, Don Porter, members of the news media and
Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Councilmember Zakrzewski noted that the purpose of the
meeting was to discuss Bill No. 65-91 which would
appropriate funds from the leaf collection and removal
services operational fund. Mr. Jeff Rinard then presented
the Bill. He passed out a one-page handout entitled
"Project Releaf Cash Projections" (copy attached. ) It was
noted that $68, 380. 00 would be appropriated in 1991. It was
noted that by December of 1992, payments on the lease should
be complete to the creditor. Between $250, 000. 00-
$260, 000. 00 would be repaid over an approximate 8-9 year
period thereafter. Leaf vacuums should last approximately
10 years. The City currently has 16 such vacuums. Project
Releaf began today in the southwest portion of the City, and
Councilmember Zakrzewski noted that he saw 3 such vehicles
in operation.
Following further discussion, Councilmember Luecke made a
motion seconded by Councilmember Puzzello, that Bill No. 65-
91 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the
committee, the meeting was adjourned at 5: 18 p.m.
