HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-24-91 Public Works flummttt ■rpurt PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE go tie Qlnmmnn Qlounril of tip QQtt*j of e►m>til grab: The June 24, 1991 meeting of the Public Works Committee was called to order by it's Chairperson, Council Member Tom Zakrzewski, at 3:35 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. Persons in attendance included Council Members: Duda, Luecke, Puzzello, Neizgodski, Ladewski, Zakrzewski, Slavinskas, and Coleman; Katie Humphreys, John Lesingring, John Leszczynski, Don Porter, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Zakrewski noted that the first item on the agenda was to review bill number 38-91 which would appropriate $1,302,600. 00 from the Local Road and Street Fund for the 1991 Public Works Program. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the primary purpose of ordinance is to close out completed projects in appropriate necessary funds for the Public Works Program. The total reduction of appropriations on closed projects is $184,217.00. He noted that at a previous meeting detailed listings of all proposed paving, slurry, and various other Public Works Projects were discussed. In response to a question raised by Council Member Zakrzewski it was noted that the concrete program would begin earlier than last year. In response to a question raised by Council Member Luecke it was noted that the railroad is responsible for maintaining railroad crossings. Mr. Leszccynski noted that more money is needed for preventative maintenance. The formula for local road and street monies is currently based on road miles therefore a county two lane road is treated the same as a city four lane road. It was attempted to get "lane miles" but it did not pass. Council Member Slavinskas questioned the proposed $50, 000.00 for Ironwood appraisals. It was noted that the design was not complete and that Cole Associates is the design engineer. Questions of side walks, right of ways, trees and the quality of life and the local environment will all be looked at. It was suggested that a separate meeting be held to discuss these items. In response to a question raised by Council Member Ladewski it was noted that curb repair comes out of the Street Department Budget. Following further discussion Council President Niezgodski made a motion seconded by Council Member Duda that Bill No. 38-91 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. Council Member Zakrzewski noted that the next item to review was Bill No. 39-91 which would transfer $100,000. 00 from the Equipment Rental Account to the Motor Equipment Account. Katie Humphreys then reviewed the Bill. A handout (copy attached) of the CCDF purchase request was then discussed. She noted the guidelines and procedures for vehicles were currently being developed. Phil Sinclair's Department checks out all low mileage used vehicles which come with a one year warranty. Following further discussion Council President Niezgodski made a motion second by Council Member Puzzello that Bill No. 39-91 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
