a. Bacon Around the Bend-June 25, 2022
Amy Stewart-Brown joined the meeting via Teams to discuss Bacon Around the Bend
2022. This will be the 5th year for Bacon Around the Bend. The event benefits the Family
Justice Center of St Joseph County. This year's route will be the updated route used in
2021 as last year's participants loved the route. The event is expected to attract 300
runners this year. The race begins at the Family Justice Center, winds thru the adjoining
neighborhood, South on Niles and concludes at Corby's Irish Pub for a finish line party.
Villa verified that the route will be unimpeded by nearby construction. Deal clarified the
placement of temporary street closures needed for the hour-long race. No further
questions or concerns were expressed by the committee.
Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Villa the permit was approved unanimously.
4. Other Business
Jones mentioned conversations within the Parks Department expressing concern over
weekend parking along Wall Street next to Potawatomi Zoo . Deal confirmed that Wall Street
is posted as No Parking along the North side of the Street. Additional Zoo parking is currently

under construction but not expected to be completed until July 7, 2022. Jones proposed
keeping Wall Street closed until 4:00 pm after the Girls on the Run event scheduled for May
21, 2022 concludes to deter vehicles parking in the No Parking Zone during Kids to Parks
Day scheduled for the same date. The Special Events Committee members had no objections
to extending the already approved closure for that day.
5. Privilege of the Floor
6. Adjournment
With no additional business, Rohrscheib motioned for adjournment and Jones seconded. The
meeting ended at 10:30 AM.
