SUBJECT: Amendment to 2022 Holiday Schedule for City Employees

Following the passage of Ordinance No. 10855-22 by the South Bend Common Council and the approval of said
ordinance by Mayor Mueller, I recommend that the Board of Public Works amend the approved 2022 City employee
holiday schedule to reflect the addition of Juneteenth to the list of City holidays. With this addition, the schedule now
consists of ten (10) designated holidays and one (1) additional non‐designated (floating) holiday :
New Year’s Day (observed) Friday, December 31, 2021*
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Monday, January 17, 2022
Memorial Day Monday, May 30, 2022
Juneteenth (observed) Monday, June 20, 2022
Independence Day Monday, July 4, 2022
Labor Day Monday, September 5, 2022
Veteran’s Day Friday, November 11, 2022
Thanksgiving Day Thursday, November 24, 2022
Day after Thanksgiving Friday, November 25, 2022
Christmas Day (observed) Monday, December 26, 2022
*Note that the New Year’s Day holiday will be observed on December 31, 2021. In accordance with Sec. 2-120(b) of
the South Bend Municipal Code, this holiday shall be treated as if it fell into 2022 for the purposes of designating 11
holidays.
