HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-10-91 Parks & Recreation d (lntmntttn Komi PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE alp the Gomm Mount-it of the QIttij of 1E0030 ilend: The June 10, 1991 Meeting of the Parks and Recreation Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Sean Coleman, at 4:50 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. Persons in attendance included Council Members Coleman, Duda, Zakrzewski, Ladewski, Slavinskas, Puzzello, Niezgodski, Soderberg, and Luecke; Jon Hunt, Jenny Pitts- Manier, Richard Morgan, David Roos, Jack Roberts, a member of the news media, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Coleman noted that the purpose of the meeting was to review Substitute Bill No. 30-91, which would transfer property at 1733 East Northside Boulevard from the Park Department/Park Board to the City of South Bend. Mr. Roos noted that the City has been working on this transfer of property for approximately 2 and 1/2 years. It would transfer Park property to facilitate the relocation of the Army to the former Maple Lane School site, to allow the expansion of IUSB. Council Member Luecke questioned whether there were any deed restrictions involved, and was advised that there were none. Council Member Luecke also questioned whether compensation was involved in the transfer, and was advised that it would be nominal in amount. Following further discussion, Council Member Soderberg made a motion seconded by Council Member Puzzello that Substitute Bill No. 30-91 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
