HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-08-89 Human Resources & Economic Development Qiummti#rr laeprnrt HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE UIu the &lnmown &I©uu ll of tip fits of#4.nudi1 Writ/ The May 8, 1989 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee was called to order by its Chair Person Council Member Steve Luecke at 5: 05 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Council Members: Luecke, Zakrzewski, Niezgodski, Soderberg, Puzzello, Slavinskas, Voorde, and Coleman; Margot Doyle (citizen member) , James Knepp, Attorney, Robert Robison, Ann Kolata, Howard Bessire, James Wensits, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Steve Luecke noted that the purpose of the meeting was to review Resolution No. 89-45 which would designate 3515 Boland Drive to be an economic revitilization area for purposes of a three year real property tax abatement. Ann Kolata then reviewed the report from the Department of Economic Development dated March 1, 1989 (copy attached) . Mr. James Knepp, the- Attorney' for the Petitioner, and Mr. Howard Bessire from the Industrial Foundation both spoke in favor of the Resolution. Mr. Robert Robison, the Petitioner, noted that originally they had built their building in 1977 and added on a new addition in 1984. Both times they sought and received property tax abatement. He noted that currently they have a severe shortage of space. It was noted that they are not seeking personal property tax abatement currently and he outlined the competitive nature of the type of business conducted by American Tool & Die, Inc. Following further discussion Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion seconded by Council Member Coleman that Resolution No. 89-45 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed.
