Persons in attendance included Councilmen and Councilwomen: Taylor, Voorde, Barcome, Braboy, Paszek, Serge, Puzzello, Beck, and Zakrzewski; Beth Leonard, Dare Norris, Hedi Robinson, Jon Hunt, Jim Wensits, Carl Witt, Jim Crunk, Sandy Keifer, Ron Sherry, Sue Horseman, Jim Norton, Jim McClalten, Dick Maginot, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Councilwoman Braboy noted that the first item to be reviewed was bill no. 113-87 which is a bill to transfer $80,000 among various accounts within the Department of Economic Development. Elizabeth Leonard presented the bill. She noted that this would be a reimbursement of their budget with $70,000 being earmarked for administration and $10, 000 • being earmarked for the near west side for the Sandock building (to secure only) . Following discussion Councilman Serge made a motion seconded by Councilman Taylor to recommend bill no. 113-87 favorably to the Council. The motion passed. The Committee then reviewed Resolution no. 87-89 which is a - tax abatement request for the property located at 3502 West McGill Street. Hedi Robinson then briefly reviewed the report from the Department of Economic Development. It was noted that the petitioner qualifies for a 3 year tax abatement. The facility would be an industrial supply house and would be operational in February of 1988. They currently have services in southern Michigan and Ohio and hope to increase the service area from South Bend by a 70 to 80 mile radius. Mr. Isaiah Jackson of the Minority Affairs Council asked several questions of the petitioner. Following further discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion seconded by Councilman Taylor that Resolution ho. 87-89 be recommended favorably to the Council. The motion passed. 1 The Committee then reviewed Resolution no. 87-90 which is a ten year tax abatement request presented by Sandy Keifer. It was noted that there would be three residential units upstairs and a deli and retail store at the bottom level. The development would be phased. Following discussion Councilman Taylor, made a motion seconded by Councilwoman Beck that Resolution no. 87-90 be recommended favorably to the Council. Mr. Ron Sherr and. Suehe Horseman were available on behalf of the p Council attorney noted that the tax rate information must be included and would propose the amendatory language. Following discussion Councilwoman Puzzello made a motion seconded by Councilman Taylor that the amended versions of Resolution nos. 87-91 and 87-92 be recommended favorably to the Council. The motion passed. The Committee then reviewed Resolution ten whichais a request for real property tax abatement no. 87-94 which is a personal property tax abatement for five years for the property located at 3602 West Sample Street. No further business came before the Committee. The meeting was adjourned at 5:40pm.
