HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-23-87 Zoning & Annexation OIuuutcingp Road oq ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE alo t1t Glom= Cto*uw l of tip CUB of eaud1 stub The November 23, 1987 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman John Voorde, at 4:10pm in the Council's informal meeting room. -- Persons in attendance included Councilmen and Councilwoman: Taylor, Braboy, Puzzello, Serge, Voorde, Barcome, and Paszek; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Papczyski, Mr. and Mrs. George Klipch, Dick Maginot, Jim Wensits, and Kathleen Cekanski- Farrand. Councilman Voorde noted that two of the items on the agenda have requested a continuance, namely, bill no. 109-87 which is a bill to vacate an alley near Chapin Place. Councilman Serge made a motion seconded by Councilman Taylor to accept. the substitute version of bill no. 109-87 and to continue it until December 7, 1987. The motion passed. Councilman Voorde also noted that bill no. 115-87 dealing with an alley vacation near Dinan Court has asked for an indefinite continuance. Upon motion by Councilman Serge seconded by Councilman Taylor bill no. 115-87 was recommended to be continued indefinitely. The motion passed. Councilman Voorde then brought to the Committee's attention bill no. 98-87. Councilman Voorde noted that there is a substitute version of the bill on file with the City Clerk. Councilwoman Puzzello made a motion seconded by Councilman Serge to continue the substitute version. The motion passed. Councilman Barcome, the sponsor of the bill, noted that the Area Plan Commission at its meeting of November 17, 1987 gave a favorable recommendation to the proposed ordinance. The area in question is 243 feet by 400 feet and would allow Jack Hickey to build 34 new units. The area in question is near Aberdeen and Ironwood. Upon further discussion, Councilman Taylor made a motion seconded by Councilman Serge to recommend substitute bill no. 98-87 favorably to the Council. The motion passed. The Committee then reviewed bill no. 110-87 which is a zoning ordinance for the property located at the intersection of Portage and Cleveland Roads. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Papczyski of 52423 Portage Road stated that the residents' rights who live in the area should be carefully considered. Mr. and Mrs. George Klipch who are •.•. .n.. .1110=44. .U.1 I•NIh. CO also residents in the area stated that they are opposed to the B and C zoning but would not be opposed to A residential.
