Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Serge, Braboy, Beck, Puzzello, Taylor, Zakrzewski, Barcome, Paszek, and Voorde; John Leszczynski, members of the news media, Kathleen Cekanski- Farrand , and many concerned residents . Councilman Zakrzewski noted that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the various traffic problems on Widener Lane. It was noted that the zoning petition for the developer of the proposed shopping plaza just north of Widener Lane had been passed by the Common Council at its last meeting. At that Council meeting, and at prior Council meetings , various Councilmen including Councilman Zakrzewski, Councilman Barcome and Councilman Taylor had expressed concern with regard to the ongoing traffic problems in this area. The meeting was to address and hear the residents with regard to their ongoing concerns . Mr. John Leszczynski then basically reviewed the various options available to the residents. It was suggested that a cul de sac could possibly be constructed. The main objective would be to hear where the residents would like such a cul de sac located. There was also discussion with regard to "crash bars" which would only be used in case of emergency. Mr. Leszczynski noted that the "crash bar" would be locked at all times and would not be available except for emergency purposes. In response to questions with regard to fire trucks and emergency vehicles using Widener Lane , Mr. Leszczynski noted that access would be more difficult with the cul de sac installed. He further indicated that trash trucks could use the road with a cul de sac without much difficulty . Several residents then brought various concerns to the attention of the Committee. Councilman Zakrzewski noted that in light of the concern voiced today , the residents should vote as to where the actual cul de sac should be located . Councilman Barcome suggested that the residents and the Council look at the Hildreth closing. He further suggested that a leader be chosen by the residents to serve as a proper liaison so as to insure ongoing communication between the City and the concerned residents . rant M[N 4001 •U/tIININ6 CO. It was further indicated that Mr . Leszczynski , through his department, would make sure that all residents not present at the meeting would be contacted directly so that they would have an opportunity to voice their selection on the cul de sac location . Following further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 4 : 50 p. m. Respectfully submitted , Councilman Thomas Zakrzewski , Chairman
