SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
February 1, 2022, 10:00 AM
731 S. Lafayette Blvd, South Bend, IN 46601
Members present: Brad Rohrscheib, Toy Villa, Gerard Ellis, Jonathan Jones (Teams),
Clara McDaniels (Teams).
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 10:02 AM by Rohrscheib.
2. Approval of minutes
Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Ellis the minutes from the previous meeting
held on December 7th, 2021, were approved unanimously.
3. Approval of Special Event Permits
a. SBVPA Kids Triathlon-July 23, 2022
The Committee discussed this yearly event that is open to kids ages 5-14. Kids will bike,
swim, and run predetermined courses in the Potawatomi Park area. A brief awards
ceremony will be held following the last race. In Bridget Fields absence, Rohrscheib
briefly discussed the event. The location and route(s) will remain the same as those in the
past. Villa mentioned the scheduled re-paving and striping of the parking lot at
Potawatomi Park during the same timeline as the event. After checking with the project
manager of the re-paving project, Villa was confident that the project would be far
enough along to accommodate and not interfere with the Triathlon. The Committee
currently has no further concerns over the event but recognized more discussion with
the organizers will be necessary as the Triathlon gets closer.
Upon a motion by Rohrscheib and seconded by Villa the permit was approved unanimously.
4. Other Business-None
5. Privilege of the Floor
McDaniels discussed what's needed for Coby Deal to be a voting member of the Committee

in Shipley's absence. A memo from whom ever appointed the original member to the
Committee is required. The Committee will pursue this with Jitin Kain.
6. Adjournment
With no additional business, Rohrscheib motioned for adjournment and Villa seconded. The
meeting ended at 10:14 AM.
