The April 28, 1986 meeting of the Utilities Committee was called
to order by its Chairman, Councilman Joseph Serge at 3:45 p.m. in the
Council informal meeting room.
• Persons in attendance included: Councilmen* Taylor, Serge, Beck,
and Zakrzewski; John Leszczynski, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Councilman Serge noted that the purpose of the meeting was to
review Bill No. 45-86 which would establish a schedule of discharge permit
fees. . •
Mr. Leszczynski noted that the fees were mandated by the
Environmental Protection Agency. It would affect industries within the
area. Approximately 14 industries would have to receive a permit under
this new Section.
The permit is based on the number .of discharges. It would be a
five year permit with $500 . 00 for the first and $100. 00 for each year
thereafter.
Councilman Zakrzewski noted that this ' ordinance .would be the next
step with regard to industrial discharges which were earlier considered
by the Council.
Following discussion Councilman Taylor made a motion seconded by
Councilman Beck that Bill No.45-86 go to Council favorably. The motion
passed .unanimously.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the
meeting was adjourned at 3:55 p.m.
