HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-14-86 Zoning & Vacation • • enmmttr smart • phi the fQammvn & urtt of to Ctti of!3 fired: ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE The April 14, 1986 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation Committee was called to order at 5:40 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Councilmen Serge, Beck, Puzzello, Braboy, Zakrzewski, Paszek, Barcome, and Voorde; Doug Carpenter, members of the news media, Kevin Butler, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Councilman Voorde noted that. Bill No. 12-86 which would rezone property located at 721 through 723 East Howard had been requested by the petitioners to be continued. He also noted that Bill No. 36-86 which would vacate certain property along the Sunnymede First Addition was asked to be continued at the request of the petitioner. He then reviewed Bill No. 16-86 which would amend the zoning for property located at 2211 East Jefferson Blvd. He noted that this came before the Area. Plan Commission on March 18, 1986 and received a favorable recommendation. Mr. Marty Kelva Cole Associates noted that -this is- necessary for the building expansion. It woll.la include a total of 12.8 acres. He also noted that there had been avorable support from the neighborhood organizations at the Area Plan meeting. Councilman Zakrzewski made a motion seconded by Councilman Serge that Bill No 16-86 go to Council favorably. The motion passed. Councilman Voorde then reviewed Bill No. 15-86 which would rezone the property located at 1134 Lincolnway East which would include a total of 1.2 acres. He noted that this also came before the Area Plan Commission on March 18, 1986 and received a favorable recommendation. Mr. Kevin Butler noted that approximately 3/4 of the property is already zoned "C". Commerical and that the zoning would take care of the remaining 1/4 of the property. He noted that the St. Johns Business building has been there since the , 1960' s. Councilman Beck voiced concern with regard to the building in light of the fact that' .it is next door to a historic area. Mr. Butler noted that the petitioner has already done substantial rennovation. • Mr. Voorde noted that there was no public comment in favor or against at the time of the Area Plan meeting. Councilman Beck made a motion seconded by Councilman Puzzello that Bill No. 15-86 go to Council favorably. The motion passed. nut ►RRRR . PUILIRHINO CO. r Page 2. Zoning and Vacation Committee Councilman Beck then noted that she would have material duplicated for the Council with regard to the request for a zoning change for an asphalt company in the Sixth District. Councilman Zakrzewski also noted that he is against the project and would be representing the residents in the area in opposing it. He noted that it is an 40 acre rezoning petition and cited truck traffic problems. It was noted that the Area Plan meeting on this would take place on Tuesday, April 15th. Councilman Zakrzewski also noted that he would suggest that the project take place on New Energy Drive.
