HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-25-83 Human Resources & Economic Development Mooradian I P#1urt Ws tile Mammon Mounrfl of the Taty of Onuttl firm): HUMAN RESOURCES .AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE • The April 25, 1983 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee meeting was called to order by its Chairman Councilman Robert Taylor at 4 :40 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included Councilman Szymkowiak, Voorde, Harris, Beck, and Taylor; Paulette Katz, Anne Kolatta,' Gerald J: Hammes, Warren McGill, Ernie Szarwar} , and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Resolution 9-B which is set for public hearing at tonight' s Council meeting. It involves tax abatement consideration for the property known as 1901 Western Avenue . It was noted by the Council Attorney that the Redevelopment Commission met on April 19, 1983 and found that the area in question qualifies as an urban development area under I .C. 6-1. 1-12. They also noted that there would be a public benefit by such developments and that the location was within a tax abatement impact area. It was further noted that both the staff and the Commission agreed in their favorable recommendations. The project without tax abatement would total $441,510, with tax abatement $222 ,•950, with the amount abated to be $218,545. The average annual cost of abatement would be $21,855. In light of this location Resolution 9-A dealing with 244 South Olive Street would be struck from the agenda. Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Harris made a motion seconded by Councilman Beck that Resolution 9-B be reported favorably to Council. The motion passed.
