COMMITTEE
The August 30, 1982 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic
Development Committee was called to order by Councilman John Voorde in the
Council Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Councilman Szymkowiak, McGann, Voorde,
Crone, Serge, Taylor, Zielinski and Harris ; Eugenia Schwartz, Jon Hunt,
and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand, and Richard Mintz.
The purpose of the meeting was to review Resolutions 9B and 9C
dealing with tax abatement petitions for New Energy and Resolution 9A dealing
with tax abatement for the Airport Industrial Park.
Councilman Voorde reviewed the report of the Redevelopment Commission
wherein the Commission approved the personal- and real tax abatement petition
filed by New Energy at its August 27, 1982 meeting. Following discussion
by the Committee, Councilman McGann made a motion seconded by Councilman
Crone that Resolutions 9B and 9C be recommended favorably to the Common
Council. Motion passed 4-0 .
Councilman Voorde then reviewed the Redevelopment Counllission report
of August 27, 1982 which approved phases 4 and 5 of the Airport Industrial
Park as a tax abatement impact area. It was noted that the original request
included all five phases . Following discussion Councilman McGann made a
motion seconded by Councilman Taylor recommending Resolution 9A favorable to
the Council so that phases 4 and 5 of the Airport Industrial Park be designated
as tax abatement impact areas . The motion passed 4-0 .
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the
meeting was adjourned at 4: 50 p .m.
