DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The November 22, 1982 meeting of the Human Resources and Development
Committee was called to order by its chairman, John Voorde at 5 : 00 p.m. in the
Council informal meeting room.
Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Zielinski, Voorde,
Crone, McGann, Szymkowiak, Serge, Harris , Taylor and Beck; Jon Hunt,
Attorney Dave Weisman, Thaddius M. Jones, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Councilman Voorde noted that the purpose of the meeting was to review
the tax abatement petition for 1302 South High Street, which is Resolution
9A on tonight' s Common Council agenda. Councilman Voorde noted that the
petition is seeking real property tax abatement. He further noted that the
Redevelopment Commission, at its meeting of November 12, 1982 , unamimously
passed a resolution stating that the property in question qualifies for tax
abatement consideration. It was noted by AttorneyWei:smam that 30 additional
jobs would be created to the company known as Environmental Technology, Inc.
and that the total amount abated would be $19,515. 00. Mr. Hunt noted that the
area was just outside the impact area
Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman Taylor made
a motion seconded by Councilman McGann that Resolution 9A be recommended to
Council favorably. The Motion passed 4-0. There being no further business to
come before the {bmmittee' the meeting was adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
