Older Adults Committee
The July 28 , 1980 meeting of the Older Adults Committee was
--) called to order by its Chairman, Councilman Richard C. Dombrowski
at 4 :05 p.m. in the Council meeting room.
Persons in attendance included: Councilmen McGann, Beck,
Voorde, Crone, and Dombrowski; Citizen member Daniel Mohnke, Mr.
Harrington, and Mr. H. J. Noel.
Councilman Dombrowski explained that the purpose of the meeting
was to review Bill No. 80-80 which would establish an Older Adults
Council in the City. He further announced that the Bill is up
for public hearing at tonight's Common Council meeting.
Councilman Crone informed the Committee that she had received
a recent letter from the Mayor's office suggesting the following
amendments:

-- delete paragraph 2 after "by" and inset "by conducting
studies on matters of concern to older adults, developing
recommendations for action, if appropriate, and advocating
such action. "
A motion was duly made and seconded to make these amendments and
unanimously carried.
Discussion then took place to reverse the numbers of appoint-
ments for the Mayor and the Council. Upon a motion being made and
seconded, the committee voted to amend the Bill where appropriate
to allow fourteen (14) members to be appointed by the Common Council,
and to allow seven (7) members to be appointed by the Mayor. The
Committee recommended that the Bill as amended be recommended
favorably to the Council.
There being no further business to come before the Committee,
the meeting was adjourned at 4 :30 p.m.
