I.SPECIAL MEETING December 1, 2021The Board of Public Safety met in a Special Meeting that was delayed due to technical issues andstarted at 9:52 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Board Members Daniel Jones, MelissaColpitts, and Lee Ross were present. Also present were Board Attorney Tom Panowicz and Acting
Clerk Hillary Horvath. Board President Luther Taylor, and Board Member Darryl Heller were notpresent. Therefore, Dan Jones chaired the meeting. The meeting was held virtually via MicrosoftTeams at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/BPS12012021
Attorney Panowicz asked that everyone mute their microphone when not speaking. Attorney
Panowicz then read through the agenda to note any additions or corrections. With none being noted, the meeting moved forward.
Board Member Dan Jones welcomed the public, called roll, and confirmed the presence of Board Members.
A.POLICE DEPARTMENT
1.APPROVE SWEARING IN OF PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICER
Emanuel Garcia
Police Chief Scott Ruszkowski requested the Board to approve the hiring of Emanuel Garciaon a probationary basis effective December 1, 2021. Therefore, upon a motion by MelissaColpitts, seconded by Lee Ross, and carried by a unanimous roll call vote, the Board of
Public Safety approved the hiring of the above listed probationary officer. A biography of
the officer was provided by Officer Mary Jane Bueno, which highlighted his talents,achievements, education, and interests.
2.SWEARING IN OF PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICERS
City Clerk Jones administered the oath, followed by the badge pinning, and comments fromChief Scott Ruszkowski about Officer Garcia’s qualifications and interest in serving as apolice officer since adolescence. The Board Members thanked and congratulated OfficerGarcia for his service.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a motion by Melissa Colpitts, seconded by Lee Ross and carried by roll call, the meeting was adjourned at 10:06 a.m.
