HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The February 12, 1981 meeting of the Human. Resources and Economic
Development Committee was called to order by its' Chariman, Councilman
John Voorde.
Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Dombrowski, Beck, Crone, McGann,
Voorde, Szymkowiak, Kopczynski, and Taylor; Kathrene Barnard, Marzy Bauer,
Jon Hunt, James Seitz, Pat McMahon, Ann Kolata, Kevin Horton, John
Leszczynski, Citizen Member Chris Davey, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Councilman Voorde announced that the purpose of the meeting was to
discuss the 1981 Community Development Budget.
Marzy Bauer, Community Development Director, then reviewed several matters.
She noted that the entitlement was reduced, and that the City would receive
approximately $200, 000 less than last year. She said that further cutbacks may
be made in the future, therefore the proposed budget was prepared to allow for
some flexibility.
Mrs. Bauer stated that there were $900, 000 of requested programs. She
explained that in reviewing the requests two major criteria were applied:
(1) would jobs be created; and (2) housing rehabilitation.
Several handouts were then passed out and individually reviewed. These
included: (1) Schedule of 1981 Application Process; (2) Copy of Budget
Proposals; (3) Summaries of Outside Requests for 1981 C D B G Funds; and (4)
"Update" the Community Development Newsletter.
The Committee had several questions on each of the handouts. Councilman
Dombrowski requested a list of proposed staff cuts.
Pat Mc Mahon reviewed the Economic Development/Redevelopment Budget
Summary; and James Seitz reviewed the Park and Open Space budget summaries.
The Committee was advised that any problems in the proposed budget should
be worked out between March 6th, when the preliminary application is
submitted; and April 22nd, the deadline for submission of the final 1981 CDBG
formal application to HVO.
Councilman Lewis McGann made a motion to adjourn the meeting seconded by
Councilman Crone. The meeting was adjourned at 6 :50 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
John Voorde, Chairman
