Resources and Economic Development Committee was called to order by its' Chariman, Councilman John Voorde. Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Dombrowski, Beck, Crone, McGann, Voorde, Szymkowiak, Kopczynski, and Taylor; Kathrene Barnard, Marzy Bauer, Jon Hunt, James Seitz, Pat McMahon, Ann Kolata, Kevin Horton, John Leszczynski, Citizen Member Chris Davey, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Councilman Voorde announced that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the 1981 Community Development Budget. Marzy Bauer, Community Development Director, then reviewed several matters. She noted that the entitlement was reduced, and that the City would receive approximately $200, 000 less than last year. She said that further cutbacks may be made in the future, therefore the proposed budget was prepared to allow for some flexibility. Mrs. Bauer stated that there were $900, 000 of requested programs. She explained that in reviewing the requests two major criteria were applied: (1) would jobs be created; and (2) housing rehabilitation. Several handouts were then passed out and individually reviewed. These included: (1) Schedule of 1981 Application Process; (2) Copy of Budget Proposals; (3) Summaries of Outside Requests for 1981 C D B G Funds; and (4) "Update" the Community Development Newsletter. The Committee had several questions on each of the handouts. Councilman Dombrowski requested a list of proposed staff cuts. Pat Mc Mahon reviewed the Economic Development/Redevelopment Budget Summary; and James Seitz reviewed the Park and Open Space budget summaries. The Committee was advised that any problems in the proposed budget should be worked out between March 6th, when the preliminary application is submitted; and April 22nd, the deadline for submission of the final 1981 CDBG formal application to HVO. Councilman Lewis McGann made a motion to adjourn the meeting seconded by Councilman Crone.
