COMMITTEE
The September 28, 1981 meeting of the Human Resources and Economic
Development Committee was called to -order at 5 : 30 p.m. by its Chairman,
Councilman John Voorde, in the Council meeting room.
Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Zielinski, Szymkowiak,
McGann, Crone, and Voorde; Marc Bromer, Christopher Davey, Mike Weidt,
Marchmont Kovas, and Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Councilman Voorde announced that the purpose of the meeting was
to discuss the tax abatement petition filed for the property located at
121-127 North St. Peter Street.
Councilman Voorde then reviewed the report filed by the Redevelopment
Commission. He noted that the Commission discussed this petition at its
August 28, 1981 meeting. The building is to be used as a medical '.facility,
one-half of which would be used by the petitioner Dr. Romana Primus. The
building is presently under construction. The Commission held that tax abate-
ment was not critical for the project to take place. It received an unfavor-
able recommendation.

Councilman Crone noted that she had inspected the site of the building;
and believed it was not an undesireable area.
Chris Davey added that the area in general was in the "upswing" and
was becoming "very desireable" :
Councilman Crone made a motion, seconded by Councilman McGann, to
concur with the unfavorable recommendation of the Redevelopment Commission
that the area located at 121-127 North St. Peter does not qualify as a
blighted area entitling it for tax abatement treatment.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the
meeting was adjourned at 5 :50 p.m.
