ORDINANCE NO. 7 7 Q 1 - 1K4 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $75,760.00 FROM THE LOCAL EQUAL EMPLOYMENT AND EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY FUND. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: The City of South Bend is committed to equal opportunity in employment and housing. In attempting to achieve this goal, the South Bend Human Rights Commission has been established. This Ordinance will enable the Human Rights Commission to resolve charges of illegal discrimination and to otherwise develop and implement programs designed to promote equal opportunity in employment and housing. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. The sum of $75,760.00 is hereby appropriated for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1986, and ending September 30, 1987. A total of $68,560.00 is appropriated from the Equal Employment Opportunity Fund under a grant from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and a total of $7,200.00 is appropriated from the Equal Housing Opportunity Fund under a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The appropriation shall be administered by the Human Rights Commission and Department of Economic Development and used for the operation of the South Bend Human Rights Commission as set forth below: ACCT. The Commission is reimbursed by EEOC and HUD for processing employment and housing discrimination charges. The purpose of the attached Ordinance is to appropriate the funds the Commission will receive from EEOC and HUD in FY87. Your favorable approval of the Ordinance is appreciated.
