South Bend, IN 46601 Dear President Beck: Enclosed is an ordinance appropriating $10,000.00 from the General Fund of the City of South Bend to be used for the purpose of helping the hungry and homeless. The ordinance is being filed for first reading at the November 10, 1986 City Council meeting. The funds came to the City of South Bend as a donation from U.S.A. for Africa in conjunction with the Hands Across America project. The City received the funds in the form of a grant and as discussed with the Council, would like to distribute these funds to organizations specializing in helping the hungry and homeless. The funds would be divided among the following agencies equally with one additional to be added at a later date if it proves to be a qualifying agency. Those currently chosen are St. Augustine' s Church, First Methodist Church, Hope Rescue Mission, and the Shelter for the Homeless Agency. If in fact the fifth not yet identified agency does not qualify for distribution of funds, the remaining balance ( $2 ,000. 00) would be equally divided among the previously mentioned four agencies. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, 1(tit't U13.-,- -- Michael L.
