Bids for flush street and California street & Woodward avenue water connections were rejected. Clerk instructed to advertise for new bids, same to be received May 14th. Contract awarded to Chas Coussens & Co for Woodward avenue & California street Sewer connections; W. I1. Burke & Co for W. Jefferson street water connections. Application filed by Chas A Brehmer for position as Inspector on City Work. Contractor Bond of John Siders filed and approved. Contract awarded to John Siders for King street Grade, Curb & Walk. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvements that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said improvements and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Be it resolved that notices be published in the South Bend Daily Times on the llth clay of May and 'on the l9th day of May, 1907, to the effect that this Board will receiVe bids for said improvements up to 10 A. Hearing on Declaratory Resolution No. 444 for AsPhalt Pavement on S. Main street was deferred until Tuesday May 21st, 19072 at 10 A. M. Hearing given on Condemnation Resolution No. 29, appropriating the following described property for public u;e. • Begin at a point on the south line of Pennsylvania avenuue 11.99 feet east of the north east corner of lot 62 Haneyts addition; thence south to a point on the north line of Indiana avenue 11.89 feet east of the south east corner of lot 117 Haney Addition; thence east 34.45 feet; thence north to a point on the south line of Pennsylvania avenue 34.45 feet east to beginning; thence west 34.45 feet to beginning. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstranbes were filed. The Board therefore declare the above described property in all things condemned and appropriated for public use. The City Engineer was instructed to prepare a roll showing the awards of damages and assessments of benefits in the above condemnation. WHEREAS it has come to the knowledge of the Board of Publie.Works that the Common Council of the City of South Bend is considering a plan tending to the establishment of a Union Interurban Station in this City,, and WHEREAS, The Chicago, Lake Shore & South Bend Railway Company desires an extension of time in the matter of its franchise to construct an interurban line into this City, and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the question of such extension be considered in con- nection with such proposed plan for a Union Interurban Station, now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; That the consent of this Board to such an extension as evidenced by an instrument in writing signed by this Board Tuesday May 219 1907, granting to said company an extension of time to complete their railroad until July 1st, 1909,is hereby withdrawn and the action of said Board in such matter is hereby rescinded and the instrument so signed by this Board is hereby declared void and of no effect, and that further proceeding in the matter of such extension be delayed until the same can be taken up with the Common Council as a Committee of the Whole.
