Lafayette street over the Asphalt pavement of Monroe St. Granted. Resolution received from the Common Council asking for Grade on St. Louis street from South Bend avenue to Corby street. Referred to the Engineer for specifications. Contract awarded to M. Feaser & Co for Walk & Curb on Leon Court from Kemble avenue to Catalpa avenue. Petition filed asking that William F. Murphy be appointed inspector on the South Bend avenue Brick Pavement. President. SPECIAL SESSION TUESDAY EVENING OCTOBER 2nd, 1906, AT 7:15 P. M. The Board met in Special Session dt 7:15 P. M. Mr. Papezynski absent. Hearing on Assessment Roll for Cement sidewalks on Lafayette street from Calvert street to Ewing avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 35% deferred until Friday October 5th, 1906, at 10 A. 9. Improvement Resolution No. 394 for Asphalt pavement on Notre Dame street from Jefferson street to Cedar street was rescinded. Hearing Given On Assessment Rolls and final estimates for Brick Pavement on Columbia street from Wayne street to End of street, Pipe Sewer on Ohio street from High street to Carroll street; Pipe Sewer on Broadway from Main street to 90 ft west of Mich street, Cement Walk'&:°;Curb on. Cottage Grove avenue from Michigan avenue to Portage avenue, Grade, Curb & Walk on Golden avenue from Portage avenue to Leland avenue; Grade, Curb & Walk on Marine street from Indiana avenue to Calvert street, dater Connections on Michigan avenue from Wilber street to Alley west of Johnson street, All under Improvement Resolutions Nos. 339,312, 349, 355, 319, 354 & 393 respectively. No further remonstrants appeared and no further remonstrances were filed. All other remonstrances were over -ruled. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rills filed September 21st, 1906, is benefitted in the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls and the Board further find that the assessment rolls filed September 21st, 19061. 550 Wednesday October 3rd. 1906. Communication received from Ross Durrell stating that the Electric light pole and telephone poles were injuring his shade trees at the corner of Sherman avenue and Michigan avenue and asked that the same be removed. Contract signed with Thomas Williams for Water Connections on Perkins street from Chapin street to Laurel street. Petition filed Ror the establishment of grade on Wilber street; College street; Adams street and Lincoln street. Referred to the Engineer. Hearing on Assessment Roll and final estimate for sidewalk on Lafayette street from Calvert street to Ewing avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 359, deferred until Saturday October 6th, 1906, at 10 A. M. Acting President. �52 The Board met in regular session at 10 A. M. Mr. Papczynski absent. Bids were opened for Water Connections on South Bend avenue and on North Taylor street. Contracts were awarded to Thomas Williams, the lowest and best bidder. Engineer reported grade on St. Louis street. Same was approved. Application filed by --,the Kalamazoo, Elkhart & South Bend Traction Railroad Company for a franchise to enter the City with an interurban railway. Hearing given on Assessment Roll and final estimate for Cement sidewalks on S. Lafayette street from Calvert street to Ewing avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 454. No further remonstrants appeared and no.f'urther-remonstrances'weee filed. All other remonstrances were over -ruled. The Board therefore find that.the property assessed in said rolls filed September 21st, 1906, is benefitted in the amount of assessments as shown on said rolls and the Board further find that the assessment roll filed September 21st, 1906, and the final estimate allowed September 21st, 19067 should be and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Engineer filed Assessment Rolls and final estimates for Brick Pavement on Washington street from.College street to Olive street; Brick pavement on Alley South of Washington street from Lafayette street to Court street; Brick Pavement on Alley west of Main street from Wayne street to Division street, Grade & Walk on Michigan avenue from Wilber street to Olive street, Pipe Sewer on Perkins street from Chapin street to Laurel street, allunder Improvement Resolutions Nos. 326, 350, 3512 363 & 372 respectively. Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published for six consecutive days in the South Bend Daily Times, commencing on the 8th day of October, 1906, stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assessments at its office in the City Hall on the 16th day of October, 1906, at 7:15 P. M. Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contracts and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Notice of this be published on the 8th day of October 1906,,in the South Bend Daily that this Board will give a hearing on the acceptance of such work at the City Hall on the 16th day of October, 1906, at 7:15 P. Bids were opened for Asphalt Pavement on West Jefferson street from Lafayette street to Michigan street. Owing to an irregularity in the bids the same were rejected and new bids will be received in J�'ri.Z 1901. Contracts were signed with Thomas Williams for Water Connections on North Taylor street and on South Bend avenue. Petition filed for the opening of Scott, Kendall, Chapin streets and Catalpa avenue from Indiana avenue to Olivers field. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 412. Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows: Pipe Sewer on Leland avenue from end of present brick pavement to Hudson avenue. Said improve- ment shall be known and designated as "THE LELAND AVENUE PIPE SEWER IMPROVEMENT" anD shall be constructed according to the plans and -specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith. Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 9th day of October and on the 16th day of October 1906, in the South Bend Daily Times. This Board will give a hearing on this resolution at its office in the City Hall on the 26th day of October 1906, at 10 A. M. A Bond or Bonds to be issued to the Contractor in payment for such work where the property owner signs waiver required, as according to law. Rockhill and Alice Rockh.ill (his wife) for 30 feet of land to the City for the use as a public .Street (extension of Johnson street). Deed accepted and ordered recorded. Petition received from the Common Council signed by G. Kaiser et al f or an electric light at the corner of Baline avenue and Quincy street. Resolved, that notices as to the amounts of assessments be published for six consecut've days in the South Bend Daily Times, commencing on the 17th day of October 1906, stating that this Board will give a hearing on the amount of such assessments at its office in the City Hall on the 30th day of October 1906, at 7:15 P. M. Resolved further, that the entire work under the above contracts be accepted and approved and the final estimate thereon allowed. Resolved by the Board of Public Works- of -the City of South Bend, Indiana: That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as`fbllows: Six Water taps on Wiest Jefferson street from Michigan street to Lafayette street, according to a report submitted to the Common Council and approved on S.ptember 24th, 1906. Said improvement shall be known and designated as "THE VEST JEFFERSON STREET WATER CONNECTION IMPROVEMEENT" and shall be constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith. Notice of proposals for bids for the executi- on of the above work shall be published on the 4th day of October and on the 31st, day of October 1906, in theSouth Bend Daily Times. Five Year Guarantee Bonds of the Union Asphalt Construction Company were filed and approved for: East Jefferson street Asphalt Pavement S. Main street Asphalt Pavement William street Asphalt Pavement. Hearing given on Declaratory Resolutions for Grade';on St. Louis street from South Bend avenue to Corby street, Pipe Sewer on Leland avenue from end of present trunk sewer to Hudson avenue, under Improvement Resolutions Nos. 412 & 413 respectively. In the above matter no further remonstrants appeared and no further remonstrances were filed. All other remonstrances were over -ruled. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvements that the benefits to the property and to the city of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said improvements and the same a-�e hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Be it resolved that notices be published in the South Bend Daily Times on the 26th day of October and on the 2nd day of November, 1906, to the effect that this Board will receive bids for said improvements up to 10 A. Corimunication received from the Common Council enclosing an application for an extension of the Chicago, Lake Shore and South Bend Railway Company's franchise said extension to be from LaSalle avenue, East of Michigan street, to the City Limits over East LaSalle avenue.
