All members present Petition filed for Brick Pavement on Columbia street from Wayne street to the end of Columbia street. Referred to the Engineer for Specifications. Petition filed for Brick Pavement, Pipe Sewer, and_Grade,.Curb & Walk on Michigan avenue from Johnson street to City Limits --Street Car Company to lay tracks before the pavement in put down. Petition filed for sidewalk on Michigan avenue from 120 feet west of Johnson street to the City Limits, and remonstrating against putting down of the Brick Pavement prior to constructing sewer. Application filed by Christ Singer for .position as City Inspector. Petition -filed by Mrs. 14arion B. Miller to temporarily close a portion of the first alley west of Vistula avenue from Bronson street South, for building purposes. GRANTED. Engineer directed to prepare specifications for a pipe sewer on Michigan avenue from Olive street to Johnson street; thence south on Johnson street to Fassnacht avenue. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 315. Resolved by the Board -of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows: Cement sidewalks on Corby street from Niles avenue to South Bend avenue. Said improvement shall be known and designated as "THE CORBY STREET SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENT" and shall be construct- ed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith: Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 3rd day of March and on the loth day of March, 1906, in the South Bend Daily Times. This Board will give a hearing on this resolution at its office in the City Hall on the 20th day of March 1906, at 7:15 P. 14. A Bond or Bonds to be issued to the Contractor in payment for such work where the property owner 'signs waiver required as according to law. Adopted this 2nd, day of March 1906. Said improvement shall be known and designated as "THE SOUTH MICHIGAN STREET GRADE 5- WALK IMPROVEMENT" and shall be constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, filed herewith. Notice of this Resolution shall be published on the 3rd day of March and on the loth day of March 1906, in the South Bend Daily Times. Said improvement shall be known and designated as "THE FASSNACHT AVENUE GRADE CURB & WALK IMPROVEMENT" and shall be constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, Filed. herewith. Contract awarded to Studebaker ,&;Chard for "Round Oak" furnace for No. 3 Hose House -Contract price $237.00 . Petition filed for Pipe Sewer on Cedar Street from Hill street to Eddy street. Petition was amended so as to read to Emerick street instead of Eddy street. Referred to the Engineer for specifications. Hearing on Condemnation Resolution No. 22, the opening of an alley South of the Cemetery from Elm street west, was deferred until Mar 20th2 1906, at 10 A. M. Hearing given on Vacation Resolution No. 41, vacating the following described property, to -wit: An alley seven (7) feet wide along the Vest side of lots . 10 & 11 in Studebakers Sub -Division of B. 0. L. 3 and 0. L. North of same. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore declare the above described property in all things vacated. Specifications for Leland avenue Brick Pavement amended so -as to read sand filler instead of cement filler. Remonstrance filed by the Johnson street property owners against the Johnson & Washington street Pipe Sewer. Hearing given on Declaratory Resolutions for.the following Improvements, to -wit; Asphalt pavement on South Main street from Washington street to Jefferson street, Asphalt pavement on William street from Colfax avenue to Washington street, Asphalt Pavement on Jefferson street from Vistula avenue to River bridge, Brick pavement on W. Final hearing on Johnson-Iffashington street Pipe Sewer Improvement and the Ohio street -Pipe Sewer improvement, under Improvement Resolutions T_Tos. 313 & 312 respectively were deferred until March 20th, 19062 at 7:15 P. M. In all other of the above matters no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvements that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said improvements and the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. Petition filed for establishment of a grade on Orange street and Lawton street. Referred to the Engineer. Petition filed for sidewalks on. Eddy street from Jefferson street to Mish- awaka avenue. Petition filed for Curb & Falk on Cottage Grove avenue from Portage -avenue to Van Buren street. Referred to the Engineer for specifications. Hearing on Condemnation Resolution No. 22, for the opening of an alley South of the City Cemetery running from Elm street west, was deferred until the 3rd day of April 19062 at 10 A. M. Plat of Raff's 3rd addition approved Petition filed for the widening of Campap street from Eddy street to the east City Limits, street to be 100 feet wide instead of. 90 feet. The Board met in Special Session at 7:15 P. M. All members present. Remonstrance filed against the Ohio street Pipe Sewer. Hearing on Declaratory Resolution No. 312 for Pipe Sewer on Ohio street was deferred until March 23rd, 1906, at 10 A. M. Hearing on Declaratory Resolution No. 315 for Sidewalks on Corby street . was deferred until Friday March 30th, 1906, at 10 A. M. Remonstrance was filed against the said improvement, by LUtis rickey et al. Hearing given on Declaratory Resolutions for the following improvements, to -wit:. The following supplementery proceedings were had in reference to resolutions for street improvements as follows: IT IS RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works that all resolutions for street improve- ments adopted by the Board of Public Works since January lst, 1906 and for which not been let, be amended and modified as follows: by inserting therein between the words "issued" and "to" the following: "Bearing Interest at the rate of five percent per annum" . Bids opened for 20,000 feet of White Oak Lumber for the Street Department. Contract awarded to Sanders & Egbert Co. Contract price $26.00 per M- Communication received from the Indiana LUmber & Mfg Co, asking permission to temporarily close a portion of the alley between the C. A. C. Club and the Home Telephone Co, owing to the erection of a building for Elmer Crockett. GRANTED. . 4E3, Saturday March 31st The Board met in regular session at 10 A. M. All members present.
