Bids were opened and referred to the Engineer for tabulation for the following improvements: Brick Pavement on Rea street, Brick Pavement on the alley West of Michigan street, Pipe Sewer on Bronson street. The opening of Bids for Electric wiring and Plumbing for No. 3 and No. 8 Hose Housed was deferred until Friday October 6th, 1905, at 10 A. M. Bond of Henri DeVos & Co filed and approved for Oak street Pipe Sewer. Contract signed for same. Bond of Tom 14. Bauer filed and approved for the Notre Dame street Grade,& Curb and River avenue Grade, Curb & Walk. Contracts signed for same. Siders & Co were given an extension of 30 days on the grading of Portage Ave. Kizer and Woolverton were notified to repair the walk in fron of their property at the Bennett Tea Store. Same to be done immediately. Hearing given on Condemnation Resolution No. 21, condemning and appropriating the following described property: Begin on east line of Webster street at a point 10.6 feet south of the south line of the Right of Way of. the I. I. & I. R. R., thence northeasterly with said south line of Right of Way to south line of Huron street, thence east 53.( Feet, thence southwesterly to a point 22.1 feet South of beginning. thence North to place of beginning. In the above matter no remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find, that the above described property shoul be and the same is hereby in all things condemned and appropriated for the pure o neeting Huron street and Webster street for public use. c I J-A President. k" eD C) 1 SPECIAL SESSION TUESDAY EV MING OCTOBER 3RD, 19052 AT 7:15 P. M. The Board met in Special Session at 7:15 P. M. All members present. Hearing on Assessment Roll and final estimate for Brick Pavement on Arnold street, under Improvement Resolution No. 243, deferred until Tuesday evening October 17th2 19052 at 7:15 P. M. Hearing on Assessment Roll and final estimate for brick Pavement on Portage avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 241, deferred until,Saturday October 7th2 at 10 A. M. Hearing given on Assessment Roll and final estimate for Brick Pavement on Vistula avenue, Under Improvement Resolution No. 240. No remonstrators appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find that the property assessed in said rolls filed September 19th, 19052 is benefitted in the amount as shown on said roll filed September 19t1i, 1905, and the final estimate allowed September 19th, 1905, should be and the same is hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. The Engineer was instructed to investigate the feasability of a deep intersepting Trunk Sewer in the business district to relieve the present congested condition and to provide better drainage of deep basements, and to report plans and estimat4d cost to the Board. Bond of B. T. Vanderkarr filed and approved for Grade, Curb & Walk on Harper Court. Contract signed for same. Bond of C. H. Defrees filed and approved for Tutt street, Brick Pavement. Contract signed for same. Contract awarded to C. H. Defrees for Rea street Brick Pavement and Alley West of Michigan street from South street South. Logan Block to be used. Contract awarded to L. H. Webster for Bronson street Pipe Sewer. Petition filed by Ormond Kennedy for rebate on the Portage avenue Sewer. Permission given to IVic'rlenry & Millhouse to grade a portion of Calvert street between Franklin street and Lafayette street. Petition for Grade, Curb & Walk on the newly appropriated strip of land belong- ing to the Grand Trunk Railroad Company was referred to the Engineer for Specifications. J. Horne, asking that the sidewalk in front of his property on East Cedar street be removed to the proper line, Two feet North. Petition was referred to the City Attorney and Engineer. Engineer reported grade on Dayton street and the Alley east of Studebaker s6hool. Same were approved. IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 303• Resolved by the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana: That an improvement be made of the kind, size, location and terminal points as follows: Grading of East Dayton street from Marietta street to the first alley eas.t of High street. Said improvement shall be known and designated as "THE DAYTON STREET GRADING" and shall be constructed according to the plans and specifications prepared by the City Civil Engineer, and filed 'herewith. Notice of this resolution shll be published on the 7th day of October and on the 14th day of October, 1905, in the .South Bend Daily Times. This Board will give a hearing on this resolution at its office in the City Hall on the 17th day of October, 1905, at 7:15 P. M. A Bond or Bonds to be issued to the Contractor in payment for such work where the property owner signs the waiver required as according to law. Adopted this 7th day of October, 1905. In the above matter -no remonstrators -appeared and no remonstrances were filed. The Board therefore find in each and every case in said improvements that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said improvements and the same is hereby in all things ratified confirmed and approved. Petition filed by Andred and David Neddo, owners of all the property on Stanfield street from Howard street to the north end of said street, asking permission to grade, curb and sidewalk said street, sidewalk to be 4 feet from the property line instead of 2 feet in order to save shade trees. GRANTED. Contracts signed with Thomas Williams for eater Connections on Tutt street and on Rex street. Contract signed with L. H. Webster for sewer connections on Tutt street. Bonds of C. H. Def reel filed and approved and contracts signed for Brick Pavement &n Ashland avenue, Rex street and on the Alley West of Michigan street. Hearing on Vacation Resolution No. 39, deferred until November 14th, 1905, at 10 A. M. Opening of Bids for Water Connections on Ashland avenue deferred until Oct 9, 1015 at 10 A. M. Bids opened and referred to the Engineer for tabulation for sewer connections on Ashland avenue In the matter of the petition of Jacob Kerner et al for change in the curb line of Columbia street from Vistula avenue to the north end of said street, the Board having considered the matter find that the easterly curb line on saAd street should be changed to conform to'a line described as f6ilows: Beginning at a point 11.5 feet north 760 27' west of the north west corner of Lot 109 Original Plat of South Bend and running thence south 130 35' west to a point of intersection of present curb near the northerly line of Vietiala avenue. All members present Remonstrance filed against the Dayton street Pipe Sewer. Hearing given on Declaratory Resolution for Pipe Sewer on Dayton street, Pipe Sewer on W. Jefferson street both under Improvment Resolutions Nos. 302 & 301 respectively. In the above matter a remonstrance was filed against Dayton street Pipe Sewer. The Board find in each and every case in said improvements that the benefits to the property and to the City of South Bend are equal to the estimated cost of said improvements and - the same are hereby in all things ratified, confirmed and approved. South Bend Electric Company were notified to discontinue the Park Lamps November 1st. President. Saturday October 29th, 1905. The Board met in regular session at LO A. M. All members present. South Bend Electric Company were notified to install an Are Lamp at the Corner of St. Peter street and LaSalle avenue and one on Mishawaka avenue at the turn between the Beyers and the Much Property. President. Tuesday October 31st, 1 The Board net in regular session at 10 A. M. Mr. Papczynski absent. Bids were opened and referred to the Engineer for tabulation for Pipe Sewers on Dayton street and on W. Jefferson street. No Bids received for the grading of E. Dayton street. Be it resolved that notices be published in the South Bend Daily Times on the 31st day of October and on the 7th day of November, 19052 to the effect that this Board will re- ceive bids for said improvements up to 10 A. 1il. on the loth day of November, 1905.
