and the Personnel and Finance Committee
The June 14,2004 joint meeting of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee and the
Personnel and Finance Committee was called to order by Public Works and Property Vacation
Committee Chairperson,Dr. David Varner at 4:53 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room.
Persons in attendance included Council Members Dieter,Pfeifer,Kelly,Puzzello, Varner,
Kusja, and White; City Attorney Charles Leone,Terry Bland of the South Bend Tribune and
Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand.
Dr. Varner noted that the joint committee was called to continue to have discussions on Bill No.
32-04 which is the"Truth in Spending"Bill. He noted that two(2)joint committee meetings
have been held to date and that another meeting has been scheduled for this Wednesday,June
16th at 3:00 pm. He noted that he would like the bill continued until June 28th so that further
discussions may take place.
Council Member Dieter made a motion, seconded by Council Member Kelly that Bill No. 32-04
be recommended to be continued until June 28th. The motion passed.
Under unfinished business, City Attorney Charles Leone provided two(2)copies(1 copy
attached)of a multi-page document entitled"Form 136 Tax Exempt Application For 2002"
which lists tax exempt entities in St. Joseph County which Cathy Bruecker done-loaded from the
internet. He noted that this information may want to be considered in light of Bill No, 32-04.
There being no further business to come before the joint committee,Dr. Varner adjourned the
meeting at 4:57 pm.
